Filing a takedown notice
If you believe content hosted on FileTrove infringes your copyright, send a notice to the
agent above containing all of the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list
if there are several).
- The URL(s) of the infringing material on filetrove.app (a trove link, and the specific
file(s) within it), sufficient for us to locate it.
- Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright
owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is
accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
On receiving a valid notice we will remove or disable access to the material promptly, notify
the trover who posted it, and record the strike against their account.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may
send the agent a counter-notice containing:
- Identification of the removed material and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was
removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the
jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district (or, if outside the United
States, the Northern District of California) and that you will accept service of process
from the person who filed the original notice.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. Unless
they notify us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may
restore the material.
Misuse of this process
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that content
is infringing — or that it was removed by mistake — may be liable for damages,
including costs and attorneys’ fees. Please make sure your notice is accurate before
sending it.
Repeat infringers
We track valid takedown notices per account. Accounts that accumulate repeated, uncontested
strikes will be terminated.
